Different ways to read the same article.

This is a short observation about the newspaper industry. Last week, I read an interesting article in the New York Times' Sunday magazine about the ongoing bankruptcy hearing of Philadelphia Media Holdings. You can read the article here.

I did not, however, read this article in the Sunday Times. I read it online, and moreover, I read it online on Saturday morning. Additionally, I didn't read the article because it popped up in my RSS feed or because someone linked to it on Facebook. Rather, a Philadelphia Inquirer employee that I follow on Twitter tweeted the link, which led me to it.

My grandmother, who is in her 80s, sent me the article in the mail. The envelope is postmarked Aug. 12, 2009. The article is dated Aug. 9, 2009. I read it sometime on Aug. 8, 2009.

Now if only someone could translate the article via smoke signals from a distant hill, I think we may have exhausted all possible means of conveyance.
